What is the World Clock?

The world clock is an idea that first became popular with stock traders. Since different markets opened at different times, many stock market floors would have different clocks that showed the time for different cities. For example, one would show New York for the New York Stock Exchange or London for the London Stock Exchange. This allowed people to see the exact time in each city without needing to do the conversions themselves. As such, the idea for the tool was to have one page where users are able to see the exact time across multiple areas all in the same place.

How does the tool work?

Using the tool is simple. First, you can use the top selector to set your preference for 24-hour or 12-hour time. Under that is a search bar to search for cities or towns to add. Simply enter the area you want and hit search. From the dropdown, you can select the area you are looking for. This will add a new clock for that area. The time on the clock updates live and gives the accurate time within one second.

You also have the option to share your world clock with anyone. To do so, simply click the "Copy Link" button and send that link to another person. Anyone who uses that link will automatically have the same world clock as you. However, if you decide you want to reset your world clock back to the default settings, simply click the reset button. This will clear only your own local settings. People who used your shared link will not have their settings reset.

Lastly, your settings are also automatically saved to your local browser. This means that you do not need to reselect your locations or settings each time.

Why use this tool?

Our main focus for making this tool was to make it as minimal as possible. Since our team is in different areas, we rely on keeping track of each time zone. However, every tool we found was cluttered, filled with ads, or required an app to use. As such, we decided to make an alternative that is super easy to use. You can use it for free online and without any distractions. The tool is perfect for teams that are in different areas of the world. Or, if you have a relative or friend in a different city, you can easily check the page to see their exact time. Additionally, the tool also offers a 24-hour option, so those who are not in the US can also use their preferred time format.
